This handcrafted oak roll-top desk dates to approximately the 1840s.

It became part of the Brassheart Foundation after Rock spent months organizing and preserving the estate of two lifelong collectors whose home contained thousands of historical objects and antiques.

Rather than accepting traditional payment, Rock chose a small number of meaningful artifacts from the collection. Among them was this desk.

Today it serves as the primary writing desk where the Brassheart Foundation — its museum archives, stories, philosophy, and future — is being created. Rather than being displayed behind glass, it continues fulfilling the purpose for which it was built nearly two centuries ago.

Several years before Brassheart existed, Rock accepted a unique estate project.

From the outside, the home resembled something from a Norman Rockwell painting. Inside, nearly every room overflowed with antiques, books, artwork, maritime history, furniture, tools, and historical treasures collected over an entire lifetime.

Nothing was garbage. Everything had once mattered.

For months, Rock cataloged, researched, organized, photographed, priced, and preserved the collection before conducting a week-long estate sale. Instead of requesting financial compensation, he asked only for a few carefully chosen artifacts that spoke to him.

The handcrafted roll-top desk became one of those pieces.

Today it has become the workshop where Brassheart itself is being written.
